When selecting a new doctor, consider the following:
  • Quality of Explanations: Compare dentist replies. Give preference to well-reasoned, detail-oriented, transparent explanations.
  • Experience & Qualifications: If a dentist has a practice listing, check their practice description, special training, typical office procedures and before & after case photographs.
  • Other Patients' Freedback: If a dentist has reviews, read other patients' reviews. The more reviews they have, the more likely it is that other patients' feeback is accurate.
  • Treatment Costs: Dental procedure costs vary from practice to practice and depend on a variety of factors. Because quality of patient care and treatment results vary from practice to practice most dentists will not "price-match" treatment fees of others.

Cost Estimate: $250-400
You should seek consultation with a periodontist. Usually the cost for scaling and root planing is between 250-400 dollars per quadrant. Unfortunately, antibiotics and mouth rinses will not cure the problem. It will barely have any effect at all. The only way to retard periodontal disease is through periodontal therapy and patient compliance with routine (every 3-4 months) professional cleanings.

I would be happy to recommend someone for you in the Boynton Beach area, since I do not perform those procedures.

Cost Estimate: $500-1500 non-surgical
Hello

You are correct when there are varying cost for periodontal treatment and you should be prepared. In regards to cost it could be as simple as let''''s say $500 or as much as $1500. In regards to your pocket levels and treatment with antibiotics, periodontal disease cannot be cured with simple antibiotics due to the nature of the infection. Deep pocketing harbors bacteria like the barnacles in the open sea. It is literally impossible to treat with antibiotics because your mouth is an open source for reinfection. The first goal of periodontal treatment is the non-surgical debridement of the pockets to decrease inflammation and to allow some reattachment of the gum to the tooth root surface. When the first phase is completed and pocket still exists with bleeding, sometimes the dentist or periodontist must employ surgical techniques to reduce the pocket so that it is manageable for the normal oral hygiene techniques. In any case, your dentist must inform you of all potential financial implications, but also be aware that once you are on the path of losing the bony supporting structures for you dentition, you do not get it back. Try to treat it early and it will service you for years to come. I hope this helps with you dilemma.
